New Patients

Every time I have a new patient I can't seem to get very far. I get x-rays done, probing and OHI and that is it. My patient today was a spanish speaking patient and thats all they spoke. I don't speak very much spanish at all and I was a very hard day. I didn't even have an interpruter. Lilly from Midtown helped me when she could but that language barrier was very difficult and it slowed me down quite a lot.
I am really concerned since I don't have any PE's passed off yet and I only have 2 quads done of a class 2 pt. I need to figure out how to pick up the pace with new patients or not schedule any more until I finish the ones I already started.

Clinic Day

I am getting so depressed. Today I did a full mouth xray and only got up to disclosing and he is only a 1B. I should have been able to get him finished or at least started.
And I had a class 2 return for her cleaning and I only got 2 quads done in all that time we had. Others who have had a class 2 return for a cleaning have completed with polishing and floride. I am really slow. I don't have technique when I probe and still takes me forever and I missed some depths....I put a 3 or 4 and they ended up being a 5. Holy cow how could I have missed that.
I need to figure out a way to get faster and more comfortable with what I am doing.
Any ideas would be very helpful.

First Day back at school

Today was the first day back to school for spring semester. We learned about our gracey's and extra oral fulcrum. But Wednesday we start seeing patients everyday we have clinic now. AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I am a nervous reck. I have no clue how to be a hygienist yet. I'm sure I'm the only one freaking out about this part of this program. My goal for Wednesday and for every patient is to chart better so I need to review OHI instructions and other charting requirements. I also need to review the order of the procedure during an appointment.
I'm off to do homework....already!!
